The Past Three Months

Wow. Time flies.

I've neglected the blog lately, but I've been crazy busy these last three months. So, since I'm trying to get back into the swing of things, I thought I'd share some of the things that I was doing other than blogging.

We finally sold our house. After 4 years of renting it out, we decided to bite the bullet and put it on the market. Within two weeks of putting the "for sale" sign in the front yard, we got an offer. Both Mr. Bites and I were floored. However, we quickly learned that it wasn't going to be an easy transaction. After months and months, the closing date was finally determined and we quickly signed papers, gave up the keys and were very happy and relieved to no longer be home-owners.

Right after the sell of the house, we celebrated Lady H's third birthday. We had a princess themed birthday party, complete with all the pink and purple a little girl could ask for.

She loves balloons as you can tell.

For the party I really didn't do that much. I made a small cake and cupcakes, princess-ized (yeah, I think it's a word) some rice krispie treats, made some pink & purple thumbprint cookies and put some pink cotton candy in little cups. She loved it. Of course, anything pink with sugar is pretty much ah-mah-zing to her.

So July rolls around and one of the most amazing things happen to me. I won a ping pong tournament at my office and advanced to the rounds that were in NYC. Yeah, I won a trip to NYC! It was pretty flippin' sweet. I was doubles partners with a co-worker and we were completely psyched about going. Thank God I didn't have to go by myself. That would have been insane. We had an awesome time, even though we might have gotten turned around (OK, lost) a couple of times. We were only there for a little over 24 hours, so we tried to hit as much as we could. It's total impossible though. I could've stayed two more weeks for sure. Did we win the match in NYC? Um, no, but we had an awesome time anyway.

August was pretty hectic as well. I was adjusting to the news that Mr. Bites accepted a position 250 miles east of Nashville. So packing up an apartment, when you don't really want to, was pretty stressful and tiring.

And in September I had the opportunity to judge the bakery items in the Tennessee State Fair. It was a lot of fun, but man, talk about a sugar high. Ugh! I literally did not eat anything sweet for a week after judging all those cupcakes, cakes, pies, and cookies. Whew. I'm getting the sugar sweats just thinking about it now.

And after the judging, we loaded up the U-Haul and hit I-40 East.

So, now that we are in a new, bigger apartment with a much bigger kitchen, I hope that my baking and blogging will pick up. I've already baked up some stuff that I can't wait to share!

  3. What a cute picture!

And--even though I don't like sweet peanut butter and I really don't need the temptation--I need to figure out how to get on this judging panel!!!
